Interested to know about the story of conjoined twins made me buy this book. My first novel by Sarah Crossan. Glad I read it ^_^
SYNOPSIS
Here we are and we are living. Isn’t that amazing? How we manage to be at all.
A wonderful story of 16-years-old conjoined twins that united in blood and bone. Grace and Tippi don’t like being stared and sneered at, but they’re used to it. They are different from each other in every aspect and they’re joined together at waist.
What they want to be looked at in turn, like they truly are two people. They want real friends. And what about love?
They have to go to school after 16 years because their parents cannot afford the private school anymore.
But a heart-wrenching decision lies ahead for Grace and Tippi. One that could change their lives more than they ever asked for..
Grace has developed cardiomyopathy and Tippi is supporting her. Grace need a heart transplant and she is not eligible for a transplant while conjoined. Hence, they have to separate so that Grace can have her heart transplant. But their conditions are not good and the successful operation rate is low.
A real tragedy…
REVIEW
A heartbreaking, incredible, emotional and beautiful story to read.
I liked how the book was written in verse or short poems with each poem as a new chapter. Senang untuk dibaca dan mengambil masa sekejap je. I don’t know why the book was written like that but I enjoy reading it that way.
Grace and Tippi are just like any other two people, not because they are sharing one body, but they are truly two people.
I love them! I love how they truly love and understand each other even though they had outstandingly different personalities. Grace loved fruity teas and Tippi loved coal-black coffee. Tippi also smoking (a little) and she got Grace’s permission on that. I can’t help not to smile when reading that part ^_^
And Grace and Tippi don’t want that. Jasmeen and Jon understand that.
Trust me.
Unexpected thing happened when Grace dan Jon start to fall in love. I loved Jon. I loved how he truly cared for Grace. Look Grace as one person.
I cried at the ending π Tanpa disedari, air mata mengalir. It was so heartbreaking. Losing someone who attached to you for 16 years. Bangun tidur dan tengok dia tiada. Menjerit, merintih dan orang itu tetap tiada.
It was so hard to make a decision especially it’s a life-and-death decision. You have only one choice and one chance to get it right. Membuatkan aku berfikir setiap keputusan yang aku pernah buat selama ini.
Favourite Verses
But she is wrong. A kiss from Jon would mean everything.
‘But I’m a parasite,’ I repeat, and in my head say it over and over. Parasite. Parasite. Parasite. All I want now is to save Tippi. If I can.
“But we can never ever fall in love. Do you understand?’
“Yes,’ I whisper. I understand.”
But her warning comes too late.
“Do you promise to live without me, if I don’t make it?”
Because having a twin
like Tippi is
not
The Worst
Thing
Ever.
I highly recommend this book if you want something interesting, touching, different and inspired!
